do you have a LoveHate relationship with your business do you experience times throughout the year where you dread having to work hi I'm Yan Henman and today we're discussing how to handle periods of lull in your business feeling lackluster or apathetic in your business can come from many different sources it's not uncommon at all lots of business owners go through this but where do they come from and what can we do to fall back in love with our business first let's look at some root causes as to why we may start to feel this way number one frustration with others if you're feeling frustrated with clients employees or colleagues it can affect your overall enthusiasm and motivation when people in your business are not meeting your expectations it can create a sense of helplessness making you question your efforts and your commitment to your own business the solution communication does everyone know what's expected of them do they know the rules of the game are they clear with their roles are they in a position where their strengths sh shine or do they need to be freed up to go be successful somewhere else ask yourself these questions and see if one of these could be the culprit number two lack of progress we all go through periods of stagnation if you're not seeing results despite your hard work it can lead to that feeling of being stagnant when progress feels slow or non-existent it's really easy to become apathetic about your efforts the solution take a look at your action items and see if you can adjust them after all results don't lie if the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result perhaps trying a different approach could be the thing that pops you out of that stagnation number three disconnection from purpose this can result in Lost passion do you still feel connected to the mission and the vision or perhaps sometimes you know those day-to-day challenges they can obscure the mission and the vision maybe you need to either reconnect with your mission and your vision or adjust your Mission and your vision something that speaks not just to you but to your clients your company colleagues employees you get the idea unmet expectations if you set expectations or standards that are a little too high and then you and your team aren't achieving them this creates frustration and disappointment it can be disheartening not to feel like you're living up to your own standards and there's a few solutions for this one one adjust your high standards maybe take them down a notch or two two make sure everyone on your team understands the kpis or key performance indicators that need to be in place so that you can achieve those expectations in other words don't tell them we need to increase profits next quarter by 20% instead give them weekly action items to hit hey like set two appointments a day break it down for them so that they understand what they need to do in order to reach your expectations number five emotional drain if you're constantly dealing with conflict or dealing with underperforming team members this can become emotionally draining it also creates continuous stress this emotional drain can lead to lack of enthusiasm the solution take a week off and make it a point not to do anything work rated leave someone else in charge for a while go for a walk meet with your friends and your family your support group take a vacation turn your brain off from work even for just a little bit giving your brain a break after extensive work periods increases productivity and efficiency next need for change you might have a desire for new challenges sometimes these feelings of apathy arise from feeling like you're doing the same thing day in and day out it becomes mundane if your routine feels too predictable it can diminish the excitement the solutions well see what you can automate in your business instead of doing the same things day in and day out automation can freeze up so that you can explore other action items and more creative thinking you might create a new role in your business you could pass off these mundane activities to someone else sit down and have a a creative brainstorming session think outside of the box look at your business from another angle and ask yourself what other ways you can grow or become more efficient there's lots of other things you can do to reignite passion in your business you can set small goals break down those larger goals into smaller more digestible bits and then celebrate those small victories so that you can build excitement and momentum you can also communicate with your teammates about what's happening have open discussions with your colleagues and your employees to understand their challenges and so that they can understand your challenges work together to find Solutions and this will help Foster collaboration and renew your energy as well as theirs change your routine introduce new activities or strategies to break up the monotony sometimes a Fresh Approach rekindles excitement you can also seek support reach out to your Mentor or your peers they can provide New Perspectives and encouragement sometimes just talking about your frustrations can help and I know this has been a topic that's been discussed uh at length especially since Co but focus on that self-care make sure that you're taking care of yourself emotionally mentally and physically engage in activities that bring you Joy outside of work it'll help lift your spirits by addressing these underlying factors and taking proactive steps you can work toward overcoming these feelings of apathy while reigniting your passion for your business I'm Yana henan thank you so much for tuning
