have you ever wondered whether or not you and your team could be doing better or maybe you've noticed some stagnation going on in your business hi I'm Jana Hennemann and today we're talking about the teachability index and why it's important for you in your business and in your teams first and foremost what is the teachability index it's a way for people to gauge their willingness to learn and their willingness to change how open are you to learning new Concepts are you ready to apply these New Concept Concepts and change in real life imagine you're attending a workshop you're willing to learn you're eager you're all ears you're taking notes you're nodding along but here's the kicker how willing are you to go back to the office or to your business and Implement what you've learned that's the true test of your teachability index or have you ever been to a health talk or read a book with some great health Concepts you know exactly what you need to do to take action for your health or weight loss goals but when when it comes to actually applying and doing these new things you fall right back into your old patterns does this sound relatable to you so why does this matter in a fast-paced world the ability to adapt and overcome and grow it's not just nice to have it's essential businesses evolve industry shift and if you're not learning and adapting you're not just standing still you're falling behind so how can you boost your teachability index what actual practical steps can you make to make sure that you're always learning adapting and applying number one Embrace curiosity always ask questions no matter how dumb you think they may be chances are there could be several other people with the same question the more Curious you are the more you discover and the more that you uncover information for those people around you number two feedback is your neutral friend seek it out keep in mind asking other people for their feedback uh makes you more open to it often we go about life with our blinders on and we don't even know that we have them on others can see things about us that we can improve on and when you are genuinely curious and understand that nothing is personal you are more open to hearing what others have to say to you constructive criticism is crucial for growth so but there's a caveat here so key number one assess who you're getting the feedback from is it from someone you respect someone who is or has been where you want to be in business and two do two or more people you have respect for or look up to have the same feedback for you if that's the case then I would listen and I say this because and no offense to any 22-year-old life coaches out there but as a 40-year-old I don't want a 22-year-old life coach you know I want someone who's been where I am and has grown out of it or is right now where I want to be that's who I want to listen to I don't have a high teachability index for a 22-year-old life coach I'm going to admit that right now I've had people come into my own business mixers uh after I've you know kind of left uh that particular networking group and they've told me how upset and angry they were and how I'm just you know I have a big giant stick up my you know what so but when I kind of look at the person that gave me that feedback it's well that that's fine I I will always be that for you and and you're not wrong and I'm okay with it but I want to go here and this is my action to go here so don't take all feedback just be really conscious of who you're getting your feedback from number three commit to change when you learn something new commit to trying it out even if it's out of your comfort zone and take small steps if you're used to working out once a week for about 20 minutes setting a goal of working out an hour every day 7 days a week is good going to be a little bit too much for you it's going to be too much for your brain the book Atomic habits talks about this instead of committing to working out an hour every day go stand on the treadmill every day for 5 minutes after a week of doing this bump it up to 10 10 minutes just standing on the treadmill after a few weeks of that you're eventually going to turn it on and then you keep moving up from there maybe the next week 30 minutes be nice to your brain change but do it incrementally in summary even if you don't have a high High teachability index or you don't work with a team with a high teachability index there are action steps you can take to change I'm y henan wishing you and your team a higher willingness to learn and a higher willingness to change and remember to like follow And subscribe our social channels and I will see you this time next week [Music]
