how to be fun to refer to part one hello and welcome in the world of business nothing quite beats the thrill of getting a referral and gaining a new client out of it it's like a vote of confidence from someone who believes in what you do I'm Jana Henman and today I'm going to share with you not just how to get more referrals but how to be the kind of professional everyone loves to refer to Let's dive into our top strategies one understanding the power of referrals referrals go beyond just expanding your client base they bring clients who trust in your abilities right from the start with studies showing a whopping 84% of consumers trust referrals over other marketing types it's clear why building a trusted network is key when you're referred to it's not just your name that's being passed around it's a portion of someone's trust not to mention you as a professional are 80% more likely to convert a warm referral over a cold lead this is huge two joining the right referral group it's crucial to find a networking group that aligns with your values and your vision not just any group that'll have you this is where I made my mistake so many years ago I joined several networking groups without success I was even a part of one where not only did I not receive any referrals but I actually had people take money from me this is where We&Co shines we focus on helping you save time we've all had those experiences where we didn't leave a business transaction completely satisfied the businesses that stick out though are the ones that went out of their way to try to course correct the relationship be that person even better try to find someone that you can refer back to that person number four ask for referrals don't shy away from directly asking for a referral if your clients are happy they'll be happy to spread the word about your business just make sure that your timing is right like at the close of a successful deal or project when asking for referrals you can even do your appreciation for their support whether it's a discount a freebie a phone call or a thank you card let your clients know that you value them you could even start a referral program in your business engage online and offline in our digital age online engagement is crucial but don't overlook the power of a personal touch a mix of social media presence and personal interactions can keep your network active and remind people of your services shoot a weekly video Spotlight one of your referral Partners on one of your Social channels they will thank you for it seven educate your referral sources the better your Professional Network understands what it is that you do the more effectively they can refer you keep them informed about your services and achievements to make them more effective referral partners and this is crucial when you're talking about your business don't just talk about key benefits and features highlight the pain points that you solve for your target audience for example I tell people all the time hey if you're out talking or networking with people and you hear someone say I like networking but I don't have the time that's a great referral for me or if you hear someone say man I had a really rough year in business last year that's also a great referral for me or even I'm looking to expand my business great referral for me number eight showcase testimonials testimonials and success stories aren't just proof of your capabilities they are powerful sto stories that can resonate with your target audience let the positive experiences of existing clients pave the way for new business I would even go so far as to write a testimonial for my clients a lot of people are busy they have their own businesses they have their own lives write a testimonial on their behalf and say hey um is it all right if uh you post this on my Google Business write a testimonial on their behalf ask them if they agree with it make it easy for them nine maintain and nurture relationships business is about building lasting relationships regular check-ins and updates can turn past clients into continuous referrals often if I find myself in a business lull I'll go through my connections or I'll go online through my social channels and reach out to people I haven't seen or spoken to in a while even a simple hey there I was going through my contacts and realize I haven't seen you in a minute how are you how's business going can make a world of difference it also helps you from uh keeping these relationships going stagnant 10 celebrate your refers show genuine appreciation for every referral a little gratitude goes a long way in making someone more likely to refer to you public acknowledgement with permission can also be a great way to say
